Update: Spring is Coming! March 1, 2006
Posted by reload in Life.add a comment
Well, it feels like Spring today and I have to apologize for being absent for so long. This seems to be a busytime of year for me. I have much to do before the long hot days of summer arrive. Talk about reload – Why didn’t I get more done while it was still cold outside? The snakes and other summer pests will be out soon. Some people are never happy; always too hot, too cold, too windy, too something. Yep, that’s me, the textbook procrastinator. Anyway, I’m short on time now so maybe some more words of [insert wit, wisdom, or waste] later. . .
Valentine’s Day February 14, 2006

Happy Valentine’s Day! Ba hum bug. I just don’t feel it today. Talk about a good time for a reload. I think it would take a reload of the entire month. Things just haven’t been going my way lately. You know, it’s hard to get into the spirit when the kids, the dogs, and the bill collectors are all screaming. Oh well, all three of those items are direct consequences of my actions so I can’t blame anyone but myself. Boo Hoo. Cry myself a river, build myself a bridge, and get over it!
I do have a wonderful wife who still loves me — heaven knows why.
I’ve got children, blessings — but sometimes …
The puppies love me — as long as I keep bringing the food and water.
Just to let you know that even if things aren’t going as you would have it; life is good, heaven is better — and nobody wants to hear [or read] about your problems so-o-o-o
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY ! to all you lovers out there.
I’m starting to feel better – Thanks.
colder February 8, 2006

As if it hasn’t been cold enough lately, now the forecast calls for colder temps, rain and snow. When I say snow, let me clarify, we are talking about less than an inch. Why bother? Here in the mid-south it is more likely to be rain and freezing rain than snow. Not that it matters much to me right now; I’ve got a sinus cold from being out in the cold wind yesterday and the day before that. Spent most of the day in bed and ventured out only a couple of times for brief moments to tend to the pets. Today is more of an overload than a reload … just ready for tomorrow, it’s bound to be better.
Now was that a waste of text or what?
Check out the ol’ blogroll; bound to be better stuff there!
Just checking in … still alive February 6, 2006

Hello again …
Yes, I’m still alive. I went out the other day (after the rain) and made a few brush piles [by hand] on my land and caught a bit of a cold. Now that I have a sore throat, I’ll be working indoors for a few days. I’ve not had many reload moments lately, or at least cannot remember them right now.
I did give a little talk about ham radio to the cadets at the local Civil Air Patrol Saturday. Perhaps a reload would be in order there as I took some cold medicine before the talk and don’t clearly remember all that I said. Mine was a small part of the talk though, as I had a couple of other speakers there who did most of the presentation — so all is well.
I thought about Yvonne’s comments the other day when I read the news about the bull jumping into the stands before the matador could kill it. That was a true reload moment; although not a personal one for me as I wasn’t there. Then we get into the whole concept of changing history for the good of mankind — and the consequences thereof. {Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a spell checker like Word has in this post window so I wouldn’t have to run two windows at once? Or perhaps I should reload and pay attention in english class so I would know how to spell [and compose].} Brings to mind the Back to the Future movies; doesn’t it? But then again, If man where to control time and events; wouldn’t that be contrary to God’s will? Would we really learn life’s lessons if we could back-up and remove the pain and sufferings of life? More realistically, wouldn’t man just overload the reload machine trying to use it for each and every thing we would desire changed? And what would the world be like if we all had the ability to make ourselves the persons we wanted to be? How could we all be ruler of the world, and the richest person on earth? Looking at history, American history that is, the government would own the reload machine and the already rich and powerfull would deny its existence and use it to ensure their dominance of the country. I must be careful now; I’m starting to sound like those that I tell “If you don’t like it, go live elsewhere!“
Completely off subject here … What am I suppossed to do with the box to the right labeled Post slug? OK, as if the word blog wasn’t odd enough [is it really short for web log or is that just my twisted mind's definition?], the word slug in reference to a post has to sound strange to more than just myself. Although … I once saw a slug crawling [or whatever it is they do to move] on a post. Ok, the cold medicine must be starting to work so I’ll close now so I don’t have to reload this post; which brings to mind another thought: Would edit be another word for reload?
Maybe some day before I die, someone will edit me and give me the ability to compose using a single train of coherent thought. [and while you are at it, add the ability to spell]
Wow! Comments … January 24, 2006

OK, I admit it, I’m impressed … my blog has comments! Who’d a thunk it?
Now I have to deal with pressure — knowing that somebody (or even somebodys) might actually read what I write. My life doesn’t merit all this … I’m just a computer guy that didn’t want to be left out on all this blog stuff.
My life today: This morning I am playing Mr. Mom; I’ve done three loads of laundry, a sink full of dishes, and fixed myself lunch. This afternoon I’ll be all macho and fall a few trees and maybe even work on the truck. But first I have to take out the trash — I knew there was a reason I was supposed to have a son.
Anyway, seeing that I have no reload moment (refer back to earlier posts if you don’t know what a reload moment is) to share so far today, I’ll let you wander over to the blogroll and find something interesting to read. Go ahead, it’s OK.
A little bit of many things … January 23, 2006

Hello again.
Nothing much new here. The past couple of days have been spent updating ham radio web pages and dealing with the teenaged daughter’s struggles in life. Saturday the wife and I attended a get together at a friend’s house. I got out my MiniLST R/C truck and give it a good exercise Saturday night. I spent Sunday being a little depressed but nothing serious, just didn’t get my nap out. Monday morning is here and I feel much better yet am not motivated to accomplice much. Maybe if I get away from the computer and get outside in the cool air? Maybe more posting tomorrow; here’s wishing you a great week!
Cowboy Up January 20, 2006
Posted by reload in Life.2 comments
Not much new since my last post. I did spend a day helping a friend load cattle to take to the sale barn. This is worth mentioning because of the cow we call Red. Red is one of the few of the cows that has horns – with points intact. We usually cut the horns or at least tip (remove the tips) the horns. Red and her companion Frequent (Frequent Flyer — named so because of her tendency to fly over fences) are the two largest of my friend’s cows. Neither of these two like to be contained, let alone loaded into a trailer. We had about six cows in the corral, including the two mentioned above, and as we started to move them towards the loading chute, Red decided to charge me! There I stand with nothing but a small cow stick (picture a golf club without the head) and this large cow with sharp horns is running towards me — RELOAD! How did I ever let my friend get me into this situation? Needless to say, I moved just quickly enough to avoid injury (she got the stick with her horns and I let her take it) and lived to write about it. Frequent did climb a fence and Red managed to persuade us to let her back into the pasture. That’s enough rodeo for this city boy.
Today I’ve been digging in the yard; doing a little landscaping. I’ll have to load photos of the cows and the yard for you to be able to fully appreciate these activities. More in a few days.
Back to Normal January 16, 2006

All is well; life is back to normal. Yes, my sweetie is home and I feel complete again. Some day I’ll get her to log her journal onto a blog and let you read all about her trip to South Africa. Meanwhile, she is back to work and getting back into her American way of life.
In other news, my truck broke down Saturday night and Sunday afternoon I helped a friend build a small fenced area for a baby calf.
Now it is back to the weekly routine of trying to make a living and meet all my commitments. More later, perhaps …
Countdown January 14, 2006

Just so I can say I posted today. It is 3 am – 8 hours from seeing my lady. It has just occurred to me that I have neglected to purchase my wife a welcome home gift – reload. I say it again: wouldn’t it be nice to be able reload, to alter your history? I need to make that into a catchy phrase. I’m sure some famous author has written that in a catchy, poetic way. Maybe one of you scholars will comment with a suitable quote that I can state as my theme.
Four hours – gotta go get ready! Bye
Just One More Day! January 13, 2006
Posted by reload in Life, Marriage/Family.add a comment
Well, its Friday the 13th and that means just one more day until my darling bride returns from South Africa. In 24 short hours I’ll be loading up for the two hour drive to the airport to pick her up. I miss her even more than I thought I would. She is truely my lifemate and I am not complete without her. Most visibly, she is my day to day companion and memory. Unseen by most, she is my muse, my daily motivation; without her I am a slug, sitting at the computer telling strangers [as if anyone but her would read this] things I seldom tell my wife. Is it just me or is it getting all mushy in here?
Added another flickrette to my blogroll today. Eventually I will have to exercise some self-control but for now, if a contact (someone who’s photos I admire, or at least find curiously interesting) of mine has a blog, I’m just adding it. If you are one of my contacts and I’ve missed your having a blog, just message me via my flickr profile page.
The weather is nasty outside, wet from storms last night and gusty cold winds. So much for getting the “outdoor chores to do while the wife is away” done. My only hope is that she missed me so much she won’t mind. Speaking of which, I better get started on the indoor chores! More later…
Lucky 13 ! Money came in the mail; I can take my wife out to dinner tomorrow. Life is good once again. Back to the chores now…
Daughter delivered to D-NOW and I’m back at the computer. In about an hour, the wife should be boarding the plane for the long flight back. I’ve got clothes running in the machines and I’m off to do dishes…
All the chores are done (except the trash that I’ll take out in the morning) and I’m going to bed. I have to get up early in the morning and go pick up my wife at the airport. I probably won’t be posting for a few days as I have some catching up to do. Sleep well my computer; see you next week.
